I just saw this today and was about to seed it. It's incredible.

Miller, weary from the battle, lit a cigarette, and Sinco's photograph of that moment became an icon of the Iraq War. But the connection between Sinco and Miller runs deeper. After returning from Iraq, Miller tried to return to his previous life but found his nights haunted by images of war and his life fractured by depression.

This is the story of how Miller struggles to heal his scars of war. But it is also a story of how two disparate lives became connected on a rooftop in Fallouja, and how they both continue to struggle with what happened.

Really well done. If you've got 20 minutes, spend it watching this.

Here's a really good piece from the sidebar about Miller's initial reaction to new fame.

Miller, who was sent to Iraq in June, is the eldest of three brothers from the hamlet of Jonancy, Ky., in the heart of Appalachian coal country.

Never heard of Jonancy?

"It's named after my greatgreat-great grandparents: Joe and Nancy Miller," the Marine explained. "They were the first people in those parts."

Liked the piece too Tyler. Shows a typical Marine.

This is a very stark look at PTSD and its effects on the person and those around them. Thank you UTT73.

I think many Iraq and Afghanistan vets should watch it. Many fear reporting the problems and stigma involved.

"I have to ask you something, Blake," I said. "If I'd gone down in Fallouja, would you have carried me out?"

"Damn straight," he said, without hesitation.

"OK then," I said. "I think you're wounded pretty badly. I want to help you."

He looked at me for a moment. "All right," he said.

All I can say is "wow".

Our lives have such little significance in comparison to these Vets ... I have so much compassion and respect for them. I wish for them to find peace in their lives..

I was reading about tweettoremind.org the other day - does anyone know about other reintegration foundations?
